Outsourcing and common sense
A simple truth that is overlooked surprisingly often
I have hinted at my opinion and experience with outsourcing here and there: Outsourcing as an antipattern, as a symptom of lack of trust (and appreciation), and as part of theater. Of course, this is not the whole truth, as in some cases it makes sense to leave a service that is not a core part of your business and can be carved out to someone else who is fully focused on it. Nevertheless, I remain skeptical and hold the opinion that outsourcing is done too often and with the wrong motivation (bringing down costs). Today, I want to share a fundamental principle about the topic:
You cannot outsource common sense. People who are trying to do it have already lost it.
Whatever you do, you still have to think for yourself. Unfortunately, people rushing to solutions are exactly the ones who want to avoid facing this truth.
